[AF] tamazight | français | English En 1979, Ali Chouhad se sépare du groupe Izmaz (temps variable) et fonde Archach (crachin) avec les jeunes de sa région (Issaffen, région de Tata, sud du Maroc). Le groupe, inscrit dans le mouvement du renouveau de la chanson amazighe (berbère), avait l’ambition de faire une synthèse entre les rythmes traditionnels villageois (danse Ahwach) et le style moderne né à la fin des années soixante dans les villes marocaines (Ousman, Izenzarn, Nass El Ghiwan). Cette fusion réussie a permis à Archach de trouver un succès certain, principalement auprès des migrants originaires de la région dans les principales villes du Maroc et à l’étranger. Archach continue jusqu’à maintenant et de façon régulière depuis une vingtaine d’années, à enregistrer une cassette par an et à se produire sur scène. La quasi-totalité des poèmes chantés par Archach sont écrits par Ali Chouhad. Le groupe a aussi repris des chansons de poètes anciens (Boudraa, Sidi Hmmou Taleb, etc.). |

In 1979, Ali Chouhad left Izmaz (Changeable Weather) and founded Archach (Drizzle) together with young people from his region (Issaffen, in the Tata region of southern Morocco).
This group was part of the movement for the revival of Amazigh (Berber) songs and they wanted to mix traditional village rhythms (the Ahwash dance) and modern urban rhythms popular during the last few years of the sixties (Usman, Izenzarn, Nass El Ghiwan). This fusion was very successful with migrants from this region to the main urban areas of Morocco and abroad.
Archach is still going strong and has recorded one cassette a year for the past twenty years and also performs live.
Most of the poems sung by Archach have been written by Ali Chouhad. The group has also sung poems written by previous poets (Boudrea, Sidi Hmmou Taleb etc.)
