tamazight | français | English Dchayra, a suburb of Agadir and the capital of Amazigh music, was the place where Amawas was born in 1978, where he studied and where he began his career. Since he was very young, our singer lived and breathed Dchayra’s particular artistic atmosphere, and he ended up thoroughly imbued with the sounds and the colours of Amazigh music, from the traditionnal rways to the modern bands (tazenzart, Ammouri and other groups). His artistic career began in 2000 with his taking part in local cultural activities and artistic events, and he then began to be invited to participate in events and festivals all over Morocco. His winning of the award for artistic creation on the fringes of the Timitar festival in 2005 marked a turning point in Amawas’s career, Amawas being his stage name chosen by his fans. In 2006, he recorded his first album, called Taghufi (Desire). Translated from French by Wendy Ouali (Source: amawas-music.com) |
